Being reared in a small Piedmont North Carolina town with access to nearby streams and rivers has led many young men astray. I have been addicted to fishing since I was a child. My fishing began on small streams within walking distance of my home. I would cut a length of river cane, tie on hook and line, find bait under a rock and begin catching sunfish, suckers, and occasionally a catfish. It was not unusual for me to build a fire and roast my catch by the stream. What a feast!
I have been hooked on fishing since those wonderful days spent on a creek bank. Now that I’m older my love of fishing has not diminished and I now fish from Virginia to Georgia and all points between. My fish of choice is Striped Bass and Catfish a close second. The reason that I fish is simple, it’s therapeutic. Catching numbers of fish is always great and gives one lasting memories, but the best part of fishing is just being there. Time spent fishing will not be subtracted from the total days allotted to us. |
